Show and Tell

I have a few things to share today.

A purse knit by my Aunt. Don't you just love the colors?

Mom's Granny squares. She's made about 50, intending to make a vest but has since changed her mind.
My new quilt I won on ebay. It is so bright and cheery. This quilt was made from all kinds of fabrics, most especially double knits, which would probably make some quilt purist cringe. This thing will be indestructable! I just love the retro look of the fabrics. It was made by piecing the log cabin strips by hand onto a backing fabric, which forms the quilting on the back. There is no quilting on the front. Each block then is prequilted when the whole thing is put together. The front must be pieced together, the the backs slipstiched. Tons of work involved in this thing. I won it from Calamity Kim. Check out her blog. She does some amazing collage work in fabric.

Beautiful Quilt, double knit and all!

Makes me think of the Lone Star Quilt I started by hand with my Grandma when I was little...Someone had given us a bunch of old clothes, all double knit, so we used those for the quilt material :O)...

Thanks for the good memory :O)....
